Star Teacher Characteristic
Dr. Martin Haberman, who has been researching Star Teachers for 50 years, says they don't join committees: they are completely focused on their students. Only about 7% of teachers are Stars, according to his definition. If you are fortunate enough to have one of them on your team, will you honor this choice? If so, how will you manage your team around this?
Do you know the difference?
Dr. Martin Haberman, who has been researching Star Teachers and Star Principals for nearly 50 years, says that many teachers don't really know developmentally appropriate behavior in their students. Do we attribute typical 12-year-old-kids-acting-out behavior, to the behavior of kids who live in a culture of poverty? Do we develop our school culture around this confusion?
